We've pulled paper search into a sidebar so you can discover research without being blocked whilst writing.

Added

  • New Find Papers sidebar brings paper search into one place, so you can look up and cite sources without leaving your document

  • When submitting a document prompt, Section Prompts now auto-populate some bullet points and auto-open. This helps improve the quality of your Autocomplete and Edit suggestions. Bullet points can be edited or deleted at any time

  • Ability to assign and edit contributor roles (author, editor, and more) on items in your library, with roles now imported correctly from BibTeX

  • New Unassigned library filter to show only items that aren't in any collection, perfectly to organize your library with ease

  • Italian and Traditional Chinese are now available in the language selector

  • Autocomplete preview now renders tables, so suggestions match how the text will actually look, especially useful in refine prompt autocomplete flow

  • PDFs that are still processing after upload now show a clear pending state in your library, so you know when they're ready to use in Autocomplete and Chat

  • Wide-ranging accessibility improvements across the editor, toolbars, auth and onboarding, navigation, library, sources, citations, comments, and reviews — clearer screen-reader labels, keyboard focus, and more consistent focus states throughout

  • Uploading a file now opens the library sidebar automatically so you can watch it land

  • Section prompts are now rolled out to everyone and accessible via the Prompts button in the editor

  • Popover borders are clearer across the app

  • Clearer empty doc UI without a visible editor toolbar

Fixed

  • AI Edit table preset now renders a proper table instead of raw markdown

  • The link action is now disabled until you select text, so you can no longer create an empty link

  • Summarizing and extracting text from uploaded images works again, including PNG and JPEG images in Firefox on Mac

  • The PDF peek viewer now reopens reliably without needing a page refresh on second PDF open click

  • Deleted library items no longer linger in citation search

  • Reviews can no longer be run on an empty document

  • Plus users no longer see an incorrect 100-PDF upload limit — uploads stay unlimited on Plus

  • Various smaller fixes: extra padding removed from chat tables, the outline subheading size, the Custom published-year filter opening on focus, hover feedback on sub-sidebar menus, comment popover avatar alignment, and the prompt-strength hint no longer flagging an empty prompt
